The B.A. (Ed.) Christian Religious Studies programme provides you with a deep and scholarly understanding of the Christian faith, its history, teachings, values and influence on human development. The programme equips you with the knowledge and pedagogical skills needed to teach Christian Religious Studies effectively in basic and senior secondary schools.
You will explore biblical studies, Christian doctrines, early church history, ethics, African Christianity, contemporary theological issues and the role of religion in personal and social transformation. Through this training, you will gain strong analytical, interpretive, communication and ethical reasoning skills that prepare you to guide learners toward moral development, responsible citizenship and spiritual awareness.
Course Overview
The programme integrates academic study of the Christian faith with professional teacher education. You will examine the Old and New Testaments, biblical interpretation, Christian theology, the historical development of Christianity, African Indigenous Christianity and the interaction between religion and society. Alongside these, you will study educational psychology, curriculum development, teaching methods and assessment strategies that prepare you for effective classroom practice.
This programme runs for four years through UTME admission and three years through Direct Entry, offering you a progressive learning experience that begins with foundational scriptural and historical studies and advances into theological analysis, ethics, contemporary issues and teaching practice. Your training combines lectures, seminars, school observations, instructional technology, micro-teaching and full teaching practice, ensuring that you graduate as a well-prepared and reflective Christian Religious Studies educator.

Entry Requirements
To gain admission into the B.A. (Ed.) Christian Religious Studies programme, you must satisfy one of the following entry pathways:
1. UTME Admission (Four-Year Programme)
- You must have at least five credit passes in English Language, Christian Religious Studies, Mathematics, and any other relevant Arts or Social Science subjects, obtained in not more than two sittings.
- Sit for the UTME with English Language and other relevant subjects.
- Meet the departmental and university cut-off marks.
- Demonstrate interest and aptitude for biblical studies, ethics and religious understanding.
- Satisfy all other general admission requirements of the University.
2. Direct Entry Admission (Three-Year Programme)
- You must have five credit passes, including English Language, Christian Religious Studies, Mathematics and other relevant subjects, obtained in not more than two sittings.
- Possess NCE, ND, or equivalent qualifications in Christian Religious Studies, Religious Studies or related fields with at least a merit or credit grade.
- Hold Advanced Level passes in relevant subjects such as Christian Religious Studies or Religious Studies.
- Provide academic transcripts and supporting documents during the application.
- Meet the general Direct Entry admission regulations of the University.

Graduation Requirements
To qualify for the award of the Bachelor of Arts in Education (Christian Religious Studies), you must fulfil the graduation requirements approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and Olabisi Onabanjo University.
Academic Requirements
- Complete and pass all compulsory and elective courses in the programme.
- Earn the minimum credit units prescribed for the four-year degree (UTME) or three-year degree (Direct Entry).
- Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 1.00.
- Complete and defend your final-year research project.
- Fulfil all teaching practice, micro-teaching and school-based experience requirements.
