The Department of Radiology is a dynamic and integral part of the Faculty of Clinical Science. It is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, hospital care, and community service. The department offers ongoing training, retraining, and student exposure to various imaging modalities, including ultrasonography, general radiography, fluoroscopy, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and bone scintigraphy. This comprehensive training enhances students’ understanding of human anatomy and function, ultimately leading to more accurate disease diagnosis and improved patient care. Moreover, it promotes collaboration with other faculty departments for educational and research initiatives.
Visions and Goals
- To develop and improve undergraduate curricula in radiology and medical imaging.
- To foster an educational environment that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical experience through cutting-edge technology.
- To offer ongoing professional development programs for faculty, staff, and students, ensuring they stay updated with the latest advancements in the field.
Academic Programmes
The Department offers only undergraduate programs at the University, designed to provide students with a comprehensive experience in Radiology. Students are extensively exposed to various radiological technologies, including General Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasonography, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Bone Scintigraphy, among others. They learn how images are produced and interpret them accurately. Moreover, students gain practical, hands-on experience with this equipment and review generated images.
The curriculum includes didactic lectures, practical demonstrations, tutorials, bedside teaching, fluoroscopic procedures, and rapid reporting sessions, covering all stages of medical education, such as Clinical Laboratory Skills (CLS), Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Medicine, and Surgery.
