The B.Sc. Economics programme is a four-year degree for UTME candidates and a three-year degree for Direct Entry students. Entry Requirements

To gain admission into the B.Sc. Economics programme at Olabisi Onabanjo University, you must satisfy one of the following entry pathways:

1. UTME Admission (Four-Year Programme)

  1. You must obtain at least five credit passes in relevant subjects at the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent, including English Language, Mathematics, and at least two other social science or science-related subjects, in not more than two sittings.
  2. You must achieve a satisfactory performance in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with English Language and other relevant subjects.
  3. Demonstrate interest in understanding economic theory, quantitative analysis, and the application of economics to real-world problems.

2. Direct Entry Admission (Three-Year Programme)

  1. You must possess at least five SSCE credit passes, with Mathematics and English Language included, along with two relevant A-Level passes in Economics, Mathematics, or related subjects.
  2. Alternatively, a National Diploma (ND) or Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in Economics or a related social science field with at least a merit or credit grade is acceptable.
  3. Additional qualifications in mathematics, statistics, or social sciences may be considered an advantage.

All applicants must also satisfy the general admission regulations of Olabisi Onabanjo University.

Graduation Requirements

To qualify for the award of the Bachelor of Science in Economics, you must fulfil the graduation requirements approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and Olabisi Onabanjo University.

Academic Requirements:

  1. Complete and pass all compulsory and elective courses in the programme.
  2. Accumulate a minimum of 120 credit units if admitted through UTME, or 90 credit units if admitted through Direct Entry.
  3. Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 1.00.
  4. Complete and defend your final-year research project.
