Dr Olukayode Olusola ODUBELA is a Lecturer I Researcher in Biological Anthropology, Neuroanatomy, Reproductive Endocrinology and Comparative Anatomy. His focus is on the Forensic Potentials of Dermatoglyphic parameters with respect to criminality tendencies steadily define the most striking features associated with crime incidence and prevention. He earned his PhD in Forensic Dermatoglyphics and Medical Anthropometry as part of Biological Anthropology in the year 2024. He is currently serving as the Acting Head of the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo College of Health Sciences, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Nigeria.
His research is building a strong foundation in the correlational relationship between permanent dermatoglyphic features and behaviour patterns, medical disease conditions, neurological disorders, academic performances, congenital anomalies, as well as their linkages to nervous system, reproductive system and comparative anatomy. He has more than twenty-four publications in national and international reputable journals and has contributed to advancing knowledge in Biological Anthropology and Comparative Anatomy through teaching, mentoring and collaborative projects.
Dr Odubela is passionate about applying knowledge of dermatoglyphic features and medical anthropometry in correlation to variables with a view to using them as predictive tools in medical diseases, congenital abnormalities, as well as the application of anatomical measurements to various health conditions. His long-term goal is to strengthen research in forensic dermatoglyphics and medical anthropometry with a view to solving developments related to alternative non-invasive diagnostics that is cheaper and convenient in addition to developing counselling tools for millions of beneficiaries across the globe.
In his capacity as Acting Head of Department, he oversees academic administration, curriculum development, staff coordination and student mentoring. He is committed to fostering a culture of academic excellence, collaborative research and innovation within the Department and by extension the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, the Obafemi Awolowo College of Health Sciences, as well as the entire Olabisi Onabanjo University. His leadership is directed toward strengthening the Department’s visibility and expanding its contributions to solving local and global challenges in the field of Human Anatomy.
