OOU FUTURE TECH

OOU Future Tech is a forward-looking innovation platform of Olabisi Onabanjo University created to inspire, equip, and connect students for success in a digital-first world. It exists to help young people move from ideas to action by building skills, solving real problems, exploring emerging technologies, and creating ventures that shape the future.

Our History

OOU Future Tech emerged from a growing need to prepare students for the opportunities and demands of a rapidly changing digital world. It was created as a platform to expose students to innovation, entrepreneurship, digital skills, and emerging technologies through conferences, mentorship, collaboration, and practical learning experiences.

Its momentum was strengthened by events such as Tech Horizon 1.0, a regional technology conference focused on innovation, digital transformation, and emerging opportunities in a digital-first world. Held on 24 January 2026 in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, the event featured keynote speeches, panel sessions, workshops, exhibitions, and a startup pitch competition. The conference brought together students, founders, experts, and innovators from OOU and other institutions across the region.

One of the highlights of that movement was the success of Muritala Olashile Aminat of the Department of Computer Science, Olabisi Onabanjo University, who emerged as the overall winner of the startup pitch competition with SIWES Finder—a digital platform designed to help Nigerian students secure verified SIWES and industrial training placements. This moment reflects what OOU Future Tech stands for: identifying real problems, building practical solutions, and empowering students to lead with innovation.
