The Department of Architecture is one of the foundational Departments in the Faculty of Environmental Studies, dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and community service. The Department provides rigorous training in Housing studies, Architectural Science, Landscape Architecture, History of Architecture, Interior Designs and Urban Designs, with a view to equipping the student with the requisite skills and knowledge, producing well-rounded graduates of architecture capable of solving complex environmental and design problems towards meeting the demands of a dynamic and ever-changing society and contributing significantly to national development and scientific advancement.

To be recognised as an outstanding centre producing graduates who are globally competitive and locally relevant in the advancement of knowledge and the development of quality and contemporary research in Architecture, addressing built environment challenges.

Academic Programmes

The Department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes designed to equip students and to help prepare the graduates with sufficient knowledge in history, theory, planning, science, engineering, contemporary environmental and social issues, as well as professional practice through a series of studio/design courses required to provide the requisite intellectual base for the graduates. This is a requirement to attain registration for professional practice after completion of the postgraduate degree.

  3. Departmental Library: For the collection of various books related to Architecture and related fields.
  4. Computer room: For learning AutoCAD and other architectural drawing software.

Dr Adedotun Ayodele DIPEOLU is a Reader and researcher in Landscape Architecture. He earned his PhD in Architecture in the year 2018 from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. He is a registered architect by the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON), a Member of the Association of Architectural Educators in Nigeria (MAARCHES). Dipeolu’s research interest is in the areas of Landscape Architecture and Urban Design with emphasis on Green Infrastructure, Human-environment interactions and Sustainable Built Environment.

He has over 65 peer-reviewed scholarly articles in reputable local and international journals, books, and conference proceedings. He is one of the reviewers for the academic journal SN Social Sciences, published by Springer Nature and some other local and international journals. He is currently serving as the Acting Head of the Department of Architecture, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Nigeria.

In his capacity as Acting Head of Department, he oversees academic administration, curriculum development, staff coordination, and student mentoring. He is committed to fostering a culture of academic excellence, collaborative research, and innovation within the Department. His leadership is directed toward strengthening the Department’s visibility and expanding its contributions to solving local and global environmental sustainability challenges.
