Open Distance Learning Centre (ODLC) Programme
The programme brings tertiary education to you, wherever you are. Our online and blended delivery model gives you flexibility of time and place, enabling access to quality university-level courses without the need to attend campus face-to-face lectures.
The ODLC programme is anchored in the university’s commitment to widening access to higher education, upholding academic excellence and fostering lifelong learning. Whether you are a working professional, a parent, someone with geographical constraints, or simply seeking to continue your studies flexibly, our Centre is designed for your success.
Offered by the Directorate of Open Distance Learning Centre (ODLC), the programme mirrors our on-campus offerings. It is taught by the same academic staff, using a dedicated ODL portal and support services via our Information, Advice and Guidance Unit. This structure ensures that you experience the full rigour and value of a university qualification and gain the same certificate as your on-campus peers.
Programme Structure
Our programme structure blends online modules, interactive learning sessions, and assessment processes that are aligned with our face-to-face provision. Learners enrol in the same framework of lectures, tutorials, assignments and examinations that apply to our on-campus equivalents.
The difference comes in delivery: you will study remotely, utilise our digital learning environment, engage in virtual discussions, access course materials online, and participate in scheduled sessions without the need to be physically present at campus every day. Support units and a dedicated portal ensure you remain connected, informed and supported throughout your studies.
Programme Courses
At present, the Centre offers a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Accounting, designed to provide learners with a strong foundation in accounting principles, financial management, and business decision-making, all delivered through a flexible online format. This flagship programme mirrors the curriculum, academic standards, and certification of its on-campus equivalent.
Additional programmes across other faculties and disciplines are currently being developed and will be introduced in phases. These forthcoming courses will expand learning opportunities for students seeking to pursue degrees in various professional and academic fields through distance learning. You can check out our courses for more information on available programmes.
Technology Requirements
To participate effectively in the ODLC programme, students are expected to have basic digital literacy and access to reliable technology resources. The learning process is primarily online, so the following are essential:
- A Computer or Smart Device: A laptop, desktop, or tablet capable of handling web-based applications.
- Stable Internet Connection: Consistent data access is necessary for streaming lectures, downloading course materials, and submitting assignments.
- Web Browser and Software: Updated browsers such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Mozilla Firefox, and standard document software (e.g. Microsoft Office or Google Workspace).
- Email Access: A valid and regularly monitored email account for official communication and login authentication.
- Quiet Study Environment: A comfortable space to attend live or recorded classes and focus on assignments.
These tools ensure that every student can engage fully in the ODLC’s flexible learning system and experience a seamless, interactive, and globally aligned online education.
Duration of programmes
The duration of each programme is consistent with our standard full-time delivery, though the flexible nature of ODLC allows you to progress at a pace that suits your work and personal commitments.
While some learners complete the programmes in the standard time frame, others make use of the flexibility offered by online arrangements to balance study with employment or other responsibilities. Detailed information about minimum and maximum durations for each specific course is on the respective course webpages.
Admission and Application
Admission into ODLC programmes follows the same high standards as our on-campus admissions process, ensuring that all graduates meet robust academic and professional criteria. Prospective learners must satisfy the university’s matriculation and O-Level requirements and apply through the application portal for the ODLC. You can check out our admissions update page to stay up-to-date on admission openings.
The application process includes submission of academic transcripts, any required professional certificates, proof of O-Level results, and compliance with any specific departmental criteria. Application forms are available via the online portal. Once admitted, candidates will receive guidance on enrolment, payment of fees, registration, and use of the learning platform. For further assistance or enquiries, applicants may contact the ODLC via the centre’s email address and telephone numbers provided.
