Directorate of Centre for Continuing Education (CCED)

At the Centre for Continuing Education and Development (CCED), our mission is to make quality university education accessible to a wide range of learners.

CCED serves as the bridge between diverse learner needs; whether you’re returning to education, working professionally, or preparing for direct university entry, we are committed to guiding your journey with flexibility and academic rigour.

We deliver a portfolio of programmes that reflect the same academic standards as those offered full-time across the university. From preparation courses like Pre-Degree and JUPEB to diploma and part-time degree options, CCED supports learners at every stage.

Our History

CCED is the result of a strategic merger approved by the University Senate in July 2012, combining the former Pre-Degree Science (PDS) and Centre for Sandwich Programmes (CESAP) into one unified centre with three units: Pre-Degree Studies, Certificate & Diploma Studies, and Part-Time Studies.

The Centre is housed in what was formerly the Mini Campus of Olabisi Onabanjo University, serving as a dedicated hub for extended learning opportunities.

The original concept dates back to December 28, 1995, when the University Senate established a Management Board to oversee the Part-Time and Sandwich programmes, aiming to broaden the university’s reach to working adults and non-traditional learners.

Facilities for Learning

CCED’s training facilities are located on the former Mini Campus in Ago-Iwoye, providing a teaching environment tailored to both in-person and flexible learning. Although specific amenities are not enumerated, CCED benefits from the University’s upgraded infrastructure, including smart classroom technology and reliable fibre-optic internet—facilitating blended and virtual learning alongside traditional methods.

Students are assured access to ICT-enabled learning spaces, academic resources, and basic campus services such as the library and health centre. As part of the broader University, CCED also harnesses institutional enhancements in student support and learning infrastructure.
