The Department of Medicine and Psychiatry is one of the foundational Departments in the Faculty of Clinical Science, dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and community service. The Department provides rigorous training in molecular Neurology, Cardiology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Pulmonology, and Psychiatry, and applied aspects of clinical sciences in preparing students to contribute meaningfully to healthcare services locally and internally while also stimulating them for research in clinical sciences.

To be a leading centre of excellence in teaching and research in Clinical Sciences, producing graduates who are globally competitive and locally relevant in addressing health challenges.

Academic Programmes

The Department offers undergraduate programmes designed to equip students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required in different subspecialties in clinical sciences. Students are exposed to hands-on bedside learning through attendance at ward rounds and clinics as well as laboratory studies.

The Department is well equipped with modern facilities to support research and teaching:

  1. Teaching and Research Laboratories: Majekodunmi Research Laboratory.
  2. Cardiology Teaching and Research Room: for clinical cardiovascular physiology
  3. Respiratory Teaching and Research Room: for clinical respiratory studies
  4. Talabi Diabetes Centre: serving as an outdoor learning and research environment in diabetes mellitus.
  5. Lecture Halls and Classrooms: conducive spaces for interactive and effective teaching.
