Department of Mass Communication

The Department of Mass Communication was established in 2002, first as a unit in the Department of English in the Faculty of Arts. Upon full accreditation, the department became a substantive department in the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences. However, upon the separation of management and social science courses, the Department of Mass Communication is currently domiciled in the Faculty of Social Sciences. The Department passionately train students in the areas of public relations, advertising, strategic communication, journalism and media studies, broadcasting and broadcast programming, development communication, film and multimedia studies and other media and communication-related specialisations to prepare the students for scholarship and to become professionals in their chosen field.
