The B.Sc. Science Laboratory Technology programme provides extensive training in laboratory techniques, scientific methods and the application of laboratory technologies in real-world contexts. You will study core scientific disciplines—including biology, chemistry, physics and microbiology—while specialising in laboratory practices such as instrumentation, laboratory management, analytical procedures and quality assurance.

The programme runs for four years through UTME and three years through Direct Entry.

Entry Requirements

1. UTME Admission (Four-Year Programme)

  1. You must have at least five credit passes in: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics — obtained in not more than two sittings.
  2. Sit for the UTME with English Language, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.
  3. Meet the departmental and university cut-off marks.
  4. Demonstrate interest and aptitude in scientific investigation, laboratory procedures, and analytical skills.
  5. Satisfy all other general admission requirements of the University.

2. Direct Entry Admission (Three-Year Programme)

  1. You must have five credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics obtained in not more than two sittings. You must also:
  2. Possess ND, NCE, or equivalent qualifications in Science Laboratory Technology or related science fields with at least a merit or credit grade OR hold Advanced Level passes in Chemistry and any of Biology, Physics, or Mathematics.
  3. Provide academic transcripts and all supporting documents during the application process.
  4. Meet the university’s general Direct Entry regulations.

  2. Earn the minimum credit units prescribed for the four-year UTME pathway or the three-year Direct Entry pathway.
