The Faculty emphasises an integrated approach in which students not only specialise in specific areas but also take core courses in other departments within and outside the faculty. In addition, the Faculty places a high premium on research and organisation of conferences, seminars, workshops and symposia for the advancement of scientific knowledge in society in general.
The Faculty is guided by a vision to be the hub of academic activities where administrative and management proficiency, skills, and values are inculcated in students and the public, fostering innovation and expertise for resource effectiveness and efficiency.
Since its establishment, FAMS has played a vital role in contributing to the academic prowess of Olabisi Onabanjo University. The faculty has grown in terms of faculty members, student enrolment, and research output. The Faculty, over the years, has undertaken various initiatives, collaborations, and research projects, establishing itself as a key player in the administration and management fields.
Our History
The faculty was one of the foundation faculties in the university in 1983, which started as the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences until 2017, when the University Senate approved its split into two independent faculties, a fallout of growing need for specialised academic focus as well as management efficiency.
The emergence of the faculty marked a pivotal moment in the university’s commitment to academic excellence and addressing the evolving needs of education and research. The Faculty aims at promoting, advancing and disseminating contemporary and scientific knowledge in the fields of administration and management in order to explore the use of such knowledge for the advancement of society.
The Faculty also aims at training articulate and professionally competent managers imbued with the right attitude to work for the service of the modern society.
Academic Programmes
The Faculty currently offers academic programmes in seven (7) specialised fields, which are accounting, banking and finance, business administration, cooperative and rural development, industrial relations and personnel management, public administration, and transport management. The Faculty also has postgraduate programmes leading to the award of Postgraduate Diploma, MBA, M.Sc., MPA, and PhD.
