The faculty focuses on understanding the relationship between humans and their environment, ensuring students gain the knowledge and practical experience needed to address today’s pressing environmental challenges. Our programmes combine scientific inquiry, creative problem-solving and field-based learning to prepare students for careers in environmental management, planning, design and sustainability. As a faculty, we build graduates who will lead responsible development, promote resilient communities and safeguard natural resources for future generations.
Our History
In November 2003, the College of Engineering and Environmental Technology (Ibogun Campus) was established and became operational in the 2003/2004 academic session. A strong engineering and environmental technology education has always been identified as a catalyst for national development.
The Faculty of Environmental Technology was renamed as Faculty of Environmental Studies in 2009/2010 with one department – Design and Architecture – running three programmes:
- Architecture
- Fine and Applied Arts
- Urban and Regional Planning.
However, in December, 2015 the Programmes were demerged into three departments: Architecture, Fine and Applied Arts and Urban and Regional Planning under same Faculty of Environmental Studies.
Based on the need to further contribute to human and economic development globally, the Faculty in November 2023 secured NUC approval to commence other built environmental programmes in Building, Quantity Surveying and Estate Management.
The Faculty is committed to advancing contemporary knowledge and skills through effective teaching, learning, research and scholarship in the field of environmental studies and related disciplines. The programmes in the Faculty are set to be innovative and provide candidates with relevant skills to compete successfully among the community of academics.
Academic Programmes
The Faculty offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the following :
- Department of Architecture
