Entry Requirements

To gain admission into the B.Sc. Family & Consumer Science programme, you must meet one of the approved entry routes of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and Olabisi Onabanjo University.

UTME Admission (Four-Year Programme)

  1. A minimum of five credit passes at O-Level, including English Language and relevant Science or Home Economics–related subjects, obtained in not more than two sittings.
  2. A satisfactory score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with English Language and other required Arts, Science, or Social Science subjects.
  3. Successful participation in the OOU Post-UTME screening exercise.
  4. Your O-Level subjects should demonstrate readiness for scientific, creative, and family-oriented coursework.

Direct Entry Admission (Three-Year Programme)

  1. Five O-Level credits, including English Language and relevant Science or Applied Arts subjects.
  2. Two A-Level passes in Biology, Chemistry, or related fields OR an ND, NCE, or equivalent qualification in Home Economics, Consumer Studies, Nutrition, Textile Technology, Hospitality, or related fields with at least a Merit or Upper Credit.

To qualify for the award of the Bachelor of Science in Family & Consumer Science, you must satisfy all graduation requirements approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and Olabisi Onabanjo University. 

Academic Requirements

  1. Complete and pass all compulsory, required, and elective courses specified in the programme.
  2. Earn the minimum number of credit units:
    • 120 credits for UTME entrants.
    • 90 credits for Direct Entry students.
  3. Complete the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), where applicable.
  4. Conduct, submit, and defend an acceptable final-year research project.
  5. Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 1.00.
