Prof. Fehintola Nike ONIFADE is the University Librarian and lectures in the Department of Library and Information Science at the Faculty of Social Science. Her area of specialisation is in knowledge management. She holds a PhD degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Ibadan in 2014.
Prof. Onifade is passionate about ensuring that scholarly resources are accessible to all library patrons. She actively champions the fulfilment of users’ information needs and has spearheaded numerous seminars focused on effective library use and knowledge sharing. Through these initiatives, she continues to empower both library staff and users, fostering a vibrant culture of learning and collaboration.
As a researcher, her area of focus includes Library/knowledge management, digital humanities/scholarships, open data research management, and information literacy. She has more than 35 publications in national and international academic outlets and has contributed to knowledge in the Library and Information Science field. Her commitment to professional development is evident in the many training sessions and workshops she has organised to enhance staff capacity. She is also a dedicated mentor, having guided numerous junior colleagues, many of whom are now serving as University Librarians themselves. Her long-term goal is to see that users/researchers have access to timely information and manage knowledge for posterity.
In her capacity as University Librarian, she oversees the administration, collection development for the various university programmes, staff coordination, and mentors other staff. She is committed to fostering a culture of academic excellence, collaborative research, and innovation within the University. Her leadership is directed toward strengthening the University’s research visibility and enriching its academic excellence.
