Postgraduate Admission

The admission process into postgraduate programmes reflects our commitment to academic excellence and global standards. We seek motivated graduates and professionals who aspire to deepen their expertise, engage in impactful research, and contribute meaningfully to society. Through our structured and transparent admission system, prospective candidates can apply for postgraduate diplomas, academic master’s, professional master’s, or PhD programmes with ease.

General Admission Requirements

1. Postgraduate Diploma Programmes

Applicants for admission into the Postgraduate Diploma Programme must be:

  1. A graduate of the Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other approved university.
  2. Holders of a Higher National Diploma at not less than the Lower Credit level.

2. Academic Master’s Degree Programmes (M.A./M.Sc./M.Ed., etc.)

  1. Applicants shall normally possess not lower than a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) Degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other approved university in relevant disciplines.

3. Professional Master’s Degree Programmes

  1. Applicants shall normally possess not lower than a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) Degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University or another approved university or a Higher National Diploma at not less than the Lower Credit level with a Postgraduate Diploma in relevant field(s) and/or a fellowship of a relevant professional body.

4. PhD Programmes

  1. Candidates who obtained their master’s degree in relevant disciplines from Olabisi Onabanjo University with a minimum of 3.50 Cumulative Grade Points would be allowed to register for PhD programmes directly.
  2. Candidates from Olabisi Onabanjo University with Cumulative Grade Points of 3.00 to 3.49 will only be admitted for M.Phil/Ph.D. and not Ph.D. directly. Their candidature for Ph.D. shall however be determined on the basis of their performance after two (2) semesters of coursework.
  3. Candidates who obtained their master’s degree in relevant disciplines from other institutions apart from Olabisi Onabanjo University with a minimum of 3.00 cumulative grade points on a 5-point scale or a weighted average of 50% will only be admitted for MPhil/PhD. Their candidature for a PhD shall, however, be determined based on their performance after two (2) semesters of coursework.

Course-specific requirements

Candidates applying for the following programmes are to note their admission requirements:

1. M.Sc. and PhD in Mass Communication

  1. O-level credit passes in English Language and Mathematics are compulsory for all applicants for mass communication programmes.

2. Postgraduate Diploma in Law

  1. Candidates having not less than a third-class bachelor’s degree in law from Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other approved university.
  2. Candidates must possess at least five credit passes at O’Level, including English Language and English Literature.

3. Master of Law (LL.M.)

  1. Holders of a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) Degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other university recognised by the Senate of Olabisi Onabanjo University with a minimum of Second Class Lower; and
  2. Holders of a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) Degree of Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other university recognised by the Senate of Olabisi Onabanjo University who do not meet the requirement in (a) above but hold the
  3. Postgraduate Diploma in Law Degree.

4. PhD Law

  1. Five O-Level Credits, including English Language, English Literature and Mathematics.
  2. Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from this university or any other recognised university with at least Second Class Lower Division.
  3. Candidates with a Master of Laws (LL.M) from this university with at least a 3.50 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) will be admitted into the Direct PhD Programmes.
  4. Candidates with a Master of Law (LL.M) from this university or from a recognised university with at least a 3.00 cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) on a 5 5-point scale or a weighted average of 50% will be admitted through M.Phil./Ph.D.
  5. Candidates with a Master of Laws (LL.M) from other universities with at least a 3.00 cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) will be considered for admission through M.Phil./PhD.

5. Postgraduate Diploma in Anaesthesia

  1. Holders of a good first degree in medicine and surgery from Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other university approved by the Senate of Olabisi Onabanjo University.

6. Master of Public Health (MPH)

  1. Graduates of Olabisi Onabanjo University with a degree of M.B.Ch.B or equivalent medical and dental degrees, such as MBS/BDS from other recognised universities.
  2. Candidates must possess at least five years of qualification experience (including internship, NYSC services, and three years of working experience in areas relevant to public health).

7. Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Analysis

  1. Holders of honours degrees in a relevant science discipline (e.g., pharmacy, chemistry, analytical chemistry, industrial chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, veterinary medicine and other allied courses). The degree class needs to be specified.

8. M.Sc. Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry

  1. Graduates of this university or any other approved university holding a degree equivalent to at least 22 or a GPA of not less than 3.0 in any of the following disciplines: pharmacy, chemistry, biochemistry or botany.
  2. Candidates may, however, be required to satisfy a selection process.

9. M.Sc. Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology

  1. Holders of a good first degree in pharmacy (unclassified) from Olabisi Onabanjo University or any other university approved by the Senate of Olabisi Onabanjo University.
  2. Holders of a classified pharmacy degree not below Second Class Honours (Lower Division) or a CGPA of not less than 3.0 may be admitted.
  3. Candidates must have scored acceptable grades (not less than C) in pharmaceutics courses in their final year undergraduate examinations.

10. PhD. Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry

  1. Holder of a Master of Science Degree (M.Sc.) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry from this university or an equivalent qualification from any other approved university with a B+ (60) average.
  2. Holders of a Master of Science Degree (M.Sc) in Chemistry or Biochemistry from this university or any other approved university, with a B+ (60) average.
  3. Holders of a degree of Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) or equivalent in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from this university or any other approved university.

Important Note

In addition to the stated admission requirements for individual programmes above, all applicants are to note that:

  1. All programmes in the university require an O-Level credit pass in English language and mathematics, in addition to three other credits in relevant subjects.
  2. The university matriculation requirements of individual departments running the programme must be satisfied before a candidate can be considered for admission.
  3. For admission into any of the programmes, possession of the National Youth Service Corps (N.Y.S.C.) A Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate issued by the Directorate is compulsory.
  4. All applicants are to request their alma mater to forward the academic transcripts of their Higher National Diploma / 1st Degree / Postgraduate Diploma / Master’s Degree to the Secretary, Postgraduate School.
  5. All PhD candidates are required to contact the relevant departments for the availability of supervisors and vacancies before applying.
  6. Every applicant is required to submit photocopies of all certificates listed in the application form, such as degree, diploma, NYSC and professional certificates, to the relevant departments.
  7. The completed application form and Acknowledgement Slip/Photo card are to be submitted to the Secretary, Postgraduate School and to the relevant Department.

Registration Steps

  1. Log in to pgs.oouagoiwoye.edu.ng/portal/admission.
  2. To check your admission status, log in via the NEWLY ADMITTED section by inserting your FORM NUMBER (e.g., PG/18/0001) and then inserting your password (i.e., your SURNAME) and then clicking Login.
  3. If admitted, proceed to Room A1 in the Postgraduate School to collect your Admission Letter.
  4. To pay the ACCEPTANCE FEE, log in as indicated in 2 above and select from your dashboard the payment option that best suits you. (POS or CREDIT CARD PAYMENT). (NOTE: The CREDIT CARD PAYMENT is the most preferred). If the CREDIT CARD PAYMENT option is used, then go to step 5 immediately for the verification of your O-Level Result(s).
  5. If the POS payment option is chosen, then print the Acceptance Fee Payment Invoice and proceed to the Postgraduate School POS payment point (Room C2) or any POS payment point in any of the university campuses (i.e., Main Campus, Ibogun Campus, Ayetoro Campus, Sagamu Campus) to make payment via the POS. Your payment would be acknowledged within 3 hrs, after which you can proceed to the verification of your O-Level result(s).
  6. Click on O’ Level Result Verification to verify your O’ Level certificate(s) online upon payment of the required amount (currently five thousand naira (₦5,000) only – payment is online ONLY). Thereafter, print out the verified result(s).
  7. Click on Print Application Form Receipt and Acceptance Receipt.
  8. Proceed to the PG School Admission/Registration Office (Room C1) for the 1st verification and to your department and college/faculty for the 2nd verification.
    • Present to the Registration/Admission Officer at the Postgraduate Office (Room C1) the originals and one set of photocopies of the following documents, arranged separately in the order shown below:
      • Verification/Personal Data Form
      • Application Form Receipt
      • Acceptance Fee Receipt
      • O-Level Results or Equivalent/Verification Printout
      • First Degree & other Certificate(s) or Equivalent (vi) Other Relevant Certificate(s) or Result(s)
      • NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate
      • Transcript
    • Counter-sign the verification forms at the college/faculty offices.
    • Make a photocopy of the front page of the verification documents, write your phone number(s) on it & submit it at the PG School Admission/Registration Office (Room C1).
  9. Twenty-four (24) hours after 9(c) above, log in to your dashboard to pay the school fees using either the POS PAYMENT OPTION or the CREDIT CARD PAYMENT option. (NOTE: The CREDIT CARD PAYMENT OPTION is the most preferred option.) If the CREDIT CARD PAYMENT option is used, then print your school fees receipt immediately.
  10. If the POS payment option is chosen, then print the School Fee Payment Invoice and proceed to the PG School POS payment point (Room C2) or any POS point in any of the university campuses to make your payment. After 3 hours of the payment, log in to your dashboard and PRINT THE school fees receipt.
  11. Fill the course form by clicking on ‘Forms’ on your dashboard, clicking on ‘Submit’ to submit the form and then printing the course form.
  12. Print the following forms as well:
    • Identity Card Form
    • Library Form
    • Medical Form: visit the Directorate of Health Services, Main Campus, for your medical fitness assessment.
  13. Proceed to the PG School Students’ Records Office (Room B1) to obtain five (5) PG Students’ Files and attach a passport photograph to each file.
  14. Submit all the printed forms as well as copies of all your receipts to the Students’ Records Office (Room B1) of the Postgraduate School.
  15. Obtain your matriculation number after submission of your files.
